An ongoing outage on Wednesday resulted in Apple Wallet rejecting Mastercard subscriptions for some of its users.
As of Wednesday at 6:54 a.m. ET, Apple’s system status page reported an issue with some users trying to set up new Mastercard payment options for Apple Pay.
While the first bug was resolved at 4:23 p.m. ET, another of the same nature surfaced at 5:10 p.m. ET. It is not known whether Apple Card, which is also powered by Mastercard technology, will be similarly affected.
An AppleInsider employee was able to add a Mastercard to the Wallet app, suggesting the issue has had limited spread.
The series of outages for Mastercard happened on the same day as the rollout of fraud prevention features for Apple Pay. The device is available for iPhone and Apple Watch and uses Apple ID, device and location to assess the possibility of fraud.
However, the fraud prevention feature, now live in Apple Wallet, is only available for Visa cards.
