Here at The Verge, we like to write about game thrones from time to time, whether they’re shaped like scorpions, semicircles, or… well, I’m not sure how to describe these. But the thing with thrones is that the crown often weighs heavily – being an MVP and playing the game every round can be exhausting. Luckily, Gizmodo found exactly what you need: a motorized gaming bed that takes you from sleeping position to pwning position at the touch of a button, while keeping your gaming setup within easy reach.
The Bauhutte Electric Gaming Bed and Bed Desk are made to work together: your rig goes on the adjustable desk, which is designed to fit a bed underneath, and the bed frame uses motors to bring your back and knees into a sitting position (although, admittedly, not very ergonomic). After your gaming session, you can use a remote tucked away on the side of your bed to lower yourself back into a sleeping position, allowing you to curl up and rest your tired eyes. It can also raise or lower the head and foot sections separately, giving you a number of configurable sleeping and sitting positions.
There is also a fleet of accessories. Bauhutte’s website suggests pairing your gaming bed with an “energy cart” that stores gamer fuel, a combo clothes rack, table, and storage unit (for your gaming peripherals, of course), or even a “ninja onesie 4G” that will keep you be as stealthy IRL as you are in the game. Bauhutte doesn’t just sell you a bed / gaming chair – it sells you a lifestyle. It’s worth noting that the company seems to have built up so far: there was a non-motorized version of the gaming bed setup in 2020, and we learned about its gaming mattress in 2021. Now it all comes together in motorized bliss.

While I can’t imagine this product being very comfortable as a bed or chair, I don’t think it’s fair to write it off entirely. For someone who lives in an extremely small space, such as a single room or a studio apartment, this can be a good way to fit both a bed and a desk in a small space. It can also be useful for people with limited mobility; some mechanical assistance in getting up can be an extraordinary help.
Gizmodo reports that the bed frame alone costs around $480 (or 59,800 yen), and an Amazon seller has listed it for around $680 (84,709 yen) with a gaming mattress. The frame is approximately 78 inches long and 37 inches wide, which should allow it to hold an American twin-size mattress. Unfortunately, it seems that Bauhutte is mainly focused on selling the bed in its home country of Japan, and the solo frame has sold out on Amazon Japan.
Fortunately, there are plenty of other motorized bed frames out there – although it’s hard to say whether it would feel the same without the accompanying desk and gamer branding.
